A Few Problems Pop Up – Update

There have been some updates since my previous post – A Few Problems Pop Up.

The plumber ended up coming out twice but there still appeared to be water at the bottom of the cabinet. So I called the super again. He called me back this morning and asked if it was OK if he came and took a look at it so he would know what to tell the plumber. I said sure.

He showed up within 5 minutes so both of us set out to figure out what was going on with the leak. As we looked under the sink there was currently no visible leakage so I showed him the picture of the leak that I had on my other post (see blogs do come in handy, when was the last time you took a picture of a leak just to have a picture of it?). He mentioned that the first plumber had found that one of the valves had needed to be tightened and thus explaining the location of the leak in the picture.

The super seemed to think that the water may be coming from the space between the actual faucet and the sink when water gets splashed there. So he looked under the sink while I slashed water in that area to see if it would leak. It didn’t. He then got the idea that it might be the drain stopper lever that might be doing it. So then with me looking and him splashing water. We successfully created a leak. The water drips down the rod that attaches to the pipe to stop up the drain.

We then went to the master bathroom and repeated the process and had another successful leak. Understanding that this is not a manufacturer defect I came to this conclusion – “do not get to crazy and splash water all over the place and there will not be water under the sink”. I thanked the super and he took off.

In regards to the outlet/mirror issue – the glass guy came and picked up the mirror yesterday and plans to have it back and installed no later then tomorrow. It sucks not having a mirror at the moment but it is cool that they are doing things the right way. I had no idea that it was such a big deal to cut a little rectangle in a piece of glass.

Final note – I am extremely satisfied with the response time and depth of looking into these issues. I mean these guys are not sitting around doing nothing waiting to fix something on MY house. They are build numerous houses in my neighborhood and who knows where else. Specifically I want to mention that Kevin is the superintendent that has helped with these issues and he is great! DR. Horton really does have great customer service.

P.S. I have added a new category – Repairs – for issues like this. This post and the original one about these issues are also in the Building the House category because they have to do with issues of the construction of the house.
