Home Security Systems
Dan and I have been debating wether or not we should get a Home Security System. Our new house is wired for it which helps us out if we decide to get it but we are not sure. We keep going back and forth. In El Monte (Cali.) we never used our system. Which is a blessing. We never had a problem even if the area where we lived was not the safest.
Here in Round Rock, well things are a lot better. You don’t see a lot of crime and so forth. I just don’t think we need it at the moment. Maybe in the future. Is not like we don’t have the alarm, we just don’t have the service. If someone brakes in, the alarm will sound but don’t have the service that contacts the police automatically for us.
I figure the alarm is ok for the time being. I guess we have to see what the future brings.

Ceiling Fan #3 - The Master Bedroom
Ceiling fan # 3 went up in our master bedroom and was easier then the other two.
I think that this fan is going to be used more then all of the other fans because it get can get pretty warm in our room since we are at the back of the house and get the full morning sun. You can really tell the difference in temperature in our room when you walk out into the family room.
This one had a slight wobble which I easily took care of.
Total install time - 1/2 hour. I’m becoming a pro.
There is talk of painting Mikey and Genesis ceiling fans to match the future design of their room so I think that this will be all for the installing until the designs for their rooms are done.
That’s OK! Their are plenty of other projects to do!

Ceiling Fan #2 - Must be a Distant Cousin
Well I decided to take a day off after spending all day on the latter trying to balance Elsy’s parent’s Celine fan. I had not been wearing shoes and my feet were actually pretty sore the next day.
This time around I got smart and actually assembled the whole ceiling fan before I tried mounting it on the ceiling. This is completely contrary to the instructions but It was a whole lot easier and went up quicker. You just have to be careful because the blades are moving and it is heavier.
Anyway it went up but had a similar issue with the balance of the blades. I nailed it this time though as it only took me about 15 minutes to get it pretty smooth. Their is still a little wobble put the creak in the ceiling is gone.
2 down and only 4 to go

Ceiling Fan Installations - Slowly but Surely
OK, so installing ceiling fans is a little more work the I anticipated - especially when you have to take down a ceiling fan right after you installed it.
This is what happened -
I got the fan up in the family room with now problems. It went up in about a half hour without a hitch so I decided to cruise over to Elsy’s parent’s room to put up their fan.

Ceiling Fans to Reduce Energy Costs
Well the surge of shopping for the new house has now included - count them - 6 ceiling fans for the house.
The rooms that they are for are:
- Family room
- Formal dining room (will become Dan Jr’s room)
- Master bedroom
- Elsy’s parent’s room
- Genesis’s room
- Mikey’s room
I have put up ceiling fans before so I am anticipating that it should be a pretty quick process.

Changing out the Thermostat for Better Electric Bills
Now that we are in the house we are getting a feel for the different things that we want to change.
In the apartment we pretty much were having the Air Conditioner all day and night since it is starting to get warm. The issue with this is that we had one of those manual thermostats where you cannot really tell what temperature you are at. Also you cannot schedule the temp as most of the time you do not need the temperature to be as cool during the night as you do during the day.
We had the same issue in the house.
