The Benifits to Living in a New Neighborhood

When we moved in the I asked the Superintendent where we could get more of the brick that they used on our house as there was not any left over. He informed me that the home manual we had been given had that information along with the paint and other specific info about what was used to build our house. He also told us that they usually have other brick that is left over that they put by the super’s office tailer so that people can have it.

We have had our front flower bed destroyed a few times by the rain that is dumped by the extreme thunder storms that roll though Texas. For your information these storms have the ability to drop a foot or 2 of water in an hour – that is a lot of water pouring into your flower bed.

We are on a budget because we have decided that my wife is staying home with the kids so rain gutters are just out of the question right now ($150 to have a 15′ one installed or about $100 to do it myself). So I figured if they had some free bricks lying around I could at least put them were the water hits the ground so the force can be dissipated some.

So I headed over to the super’s trailer to see if they had any bricks.

Did they have any? They had a lot!

I not only got ones for that flower bed but we had enough to do a border around our other flower bed.

They do not match the brink on the house exactly but they are close and from the street you cannot tell the difference.

The free brick makes up for all the dust of the construction site ;-) !
