The Whirl of a New Table Saw
Well this is am interesting tail.
I have been wanting a table saw for quite some but with the new house and everything it wasn’t high on the list. But a project came a long that I could not do without a table saw (see my post – I Found a Simple way to do a Deck Railing).
I had looked at a table saw at Sears that was nice and went for about $180 a few months back so this is how much they were in my mind. I was given the budget by the wife of $100 so I decided to check out Carig’s Lists to see what was available.
After going through all the posts I happened upon a Deta table saw for my price $100. It looked a little older but the seller assured that it worked great in their post. An email and a phone call later I haggle it down to $75 and was set to pick it up.
I ended up paying $80 for it because I didn’t have change but I got it home – it was a little rusty but it cut wood. It needed a new blade so I would be making a trip to Harbor Freight for a new one.
Then, this past weekend we went to the outlet mall down in San Marcos and I found one of my favorite stores – the Black and Decker outlet. This place is cool because you can get new or refurbished tools for a fraction on the cost in retails stores.
Anyway I was looking around and I found the exact same table saw that I had at home except that it was orange and said Back and Decker on it. I was even more amazed at the price – $97. This was only $20 more then the rusty one I had at home.
I immediately found my wife and begged her to let me get it on the promise that I would sell the rust one back on Craig’s List.
She agreed and we were on our way home with the new un-rusty saw. I currently have it up on Craig’s list and hope that someone is willing to buy it.
